MX5 update

Oh, yeah, I forgot to update this. It turns out that the car won't be delivered to the dealership until this weekend. They are supposed to call me today to let me know when I can pick it up (hopefully tomorrow).

The anticipation is getting bad, especially since we have had at least three days in the last two weeks where it was nice enough to drive with the top down (last Friday, October 21, was sunny and 70 degrees). Now, of course it is getting cold and wet. Whaaaa!

Lying liars

Libby resigns just as the indictments against him are announced; Rove still in the crosshairs. Let's hope Fitzgerald keeps after him, and Cheney too.

Mr. Fitzgerald shows that there are members of the GOP employees of the DOJ who actually do still have honor and integrity and who do believe in the rule of law. He makes the current GOP leadership (like Tom DeLay and Bob Frist, just to name a few outside the current misAdministration) look even more corrupt in comparison.

Patrick Fitzgerald, you are acting like real role model, a true public servant, and I salute you. I hope you don't chicken out and let Rove and Cheney off, though the political pressure to do so must be incredible.

Correction 12:40 pm: At today's press conference, Mr. Fitzgerald stated that he does not belong to any political party. I had heard that he was a Republican, who did his job scrupulously no matter how powerful the target of his investigations. Apparently, only the second part is true.

Looking forward to...

So, on Wednesday, I take delivery on this:

Schweeeet!

Yes, I have to wait for a couple of months before hardtops are available (I think this is going to be something I will need for the rainy winters here), and the aftermarket folks don't even seem to have covers for them yet. Still....I have wanted one of these since the 1990 model, and have watched the Miata (now MX-5) just keep getting better and better. Since my Saturn coupe is ready for the Happy Car Yard (it's been nearly totaled, twice), this was the right time to finally indulge my fantasy. You can call it a "chick car", but hey, Chicks Rule!

Well....

Okay, this is what's going on.

In the mid-to late part of September, our lab started getting in samples from the Gulf area to assess the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. You can read about it here. I was planning my vacation for the last week in September and first week of October, but I had to delay that for a week due to this effort.

My vacation was spent at my parents' place, where I canned tomatoes, provided computer support for my parents' computers, started a website for their hauling business/hobby, and helped out a flammulated owl that conked himself out chasing moths and ended up on the doorstep on Columbus Day eve.

Now, I'm finally back from vacation, and I have something to look forward to.....
