Even though Katrina didn't hit New Orleans directly, it appears that this is going to be a disaster of major proportions. I am wishing for the best for the folks affected by this.

Cannel worked at the church for about four months but resigned shortly after his February arrest. Officers said he used a church computer to try to arrange sex with a detective posing as a 12-year-old boy.

Do these churches ever run any kind of background checks on people who are going to be working with kids? Or do they just think that no "good Christian" would ever do anything like this?

Sheesh. And I was over at Orcinus today having to bitch about people having their heads in the sand....
